About the Visualization, Virtual reality, Augmented reality and Interaction (VVAI) Lab

Mission

The VVAI Lab asks how people can understand data in context, collaborate across different devices and viewpoints, and learn complex creative skills when digital information becomes spatial and immersive. We build AR/VR, tangible, and cross-device systems, then evaluate them through controlled experiments, field studies, interviews, and behavioral measures.

Our goal is practical as well as scientific: to turn evidence about human perception, interaction, learning, and teamwork into more useful analytics tools, more accessible learning environments, and better support for collaborative decision-making.

History

The VVAI Lab was founded by Dr. Wai Tong in 2024 at the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts at Texas A&M University.
